This is an original oil landscape by me, L Haas, painted on 12″ W × 12″ H × 0.25″ D oil on wood board and signed. I spent a lot of time thinking about red rock walls and western skies before starting this piece. Zion has that remarkable interplay of light and shadow — especially in the late afternoon — and I wanted my brushwork to echo the warmth and drama of that moment.

When I stood before those cliffs, I was struck by the way the landscape feels rugged yet intimate, as if it’s inviting you in while holding its mysteries close. In Zion National Park, I aimed to balance the rich, earthy tones with expressive marks that whisper of wind, sun, and space.
