About the designer :

Tommi Parzinger (1903–1981) was a German-born American furniture and interior designer widely recognized for his elegant contributions to mid-century modern design. Born in Munich, Germany, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he developed a strong foundation in classical design and craftsmanship.

Parzinger immigrated to the United States in 1932, fleeing the rise of the Nazi regime. After working as a designer and illustrator, he gained recognition for his refined aesthetic and was eventually appointed head of design for the furniture company Charak Modern in the late 1930s. During this period he created a series of sophisticated furniture designs that blended European neoclassical elegance with modern American sensibilities.

In the 1950s, Parzinger founded his own firm, Parzinger Originals, producing luxurious custom furniture and interior designs for prominent clients. His work is known for its slender proportions, elegant lines, lacquered surfaces, brass accents, and finely crafted details.

Parzinger designed interiors and furnishings for prestigious commissions including corporate offices, luxury residences, and institutions. His refined style helped shape the look of upscale American interiors during the mid-20th century.

Today, Tommi Parzinger’s furniture and decorative objects remain highly sought after by collectors and interior designers, and his work is represented in major museum collections including the Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
