Unsigned (as indicated of … Read more This listing consists of a striking Springer table lamp with Geodesic shapes around ball shaped frame. Unsigned (as indicated of most of Mr. Springer’s earlier coveted works), design attributed to Karl Springer. c late 1970’s, early 1980’s. Leviton manufacture is impressed on socket frame. New Brunswick Lamp Shade Company is engraved on shade, likely this is original shade as has been in business since the 1940’s.

In geometry, a geodesic is a curve representing in some sense the locally[a] shortest[b] path (arc) between two points in a surface, again, an example of Springer’s forward design thinking where he sought forms and and implemented to their purest shapes as in lamp here.

24" H to finial, 22"H to top of socket x 12” ball base

Black Drum shade 15” circumference, 9.5” height

Condition, shade is in excellent condition, base shows some wear on ball surface such as dings in an area and a scuff indent near bottom. Two minor missing ruboff from ceramic or glaze on top flat surface and one on ball itself, please refer to pictures. Lighting mechanisms and pulls work fine.
