The stunning fabric used on the interior of this chair is an Indian-inspired velvet chenille called "Bombay Scarlet". Our master upholsterer has paired that with a matching velvet called "Prairie Gold" for the exterior sides and back. (The velvet exterior has been variously described as a sage-hued or bronze-hued gold.) The chair itself is a solidly built 1940s channel-back, armchair from North Carolina. It is sound and sturdy -- having been built in that age when they still made furniture to last. The style is simple and straight-forward, classic and elegant. It is in remarkably pristine condition for its age, with no apparent signs of wear that would betray its 80-years of use. The chair measures 36 inches high at the crest, and the seat is 17 inches high from the floor. It is 29 inches wide from arm to arm and 30 inches deep from back to front.

If you wish to save money on shipping costs, you might want to check out a site called uShip. You can easily arrange your own shipping at that site, and you can usually save significantly when you do that. For example, shipping (for this item) to most East Coast destinations with uShip would normally run approximately $150 to $250. If you decide to do that, you would choose the “Local Pick-up” option at check out. Please be advised that Chairish does not allow returns with the “Local Pick-up” option.
