This beautiful French console table with a marble top, which was hand-carved from oak in the 1800s, has a rectilinear … Read more This beautiful French console table with a marble top, which was hand-carved from oak in the 1800s, has a rectilinear form that is softened by two curvaceous trestle legs. Although the legs feature a rectangular panel with thick molding, a pair of S-scrolls that are embellished with dentil edges flank the geometric center, giving the console a more supple appearance. A thick beam stretcher connects the legs, which have been carved with a rich cavetto cornice at the base. The wood has a lovely golden brown hue that pairs well with the salmon-colored marble top with white and gray veining. Two belt drawers, each with a bronze pull, can be seen beneath the thin marble, allowing our French oak console to also be used as a desk. Because it is carved on all sides, the table can also float in the middle of a room, making it a versatile piece of furniture. See less
