This exquisite François Linke–style occasional table captures the opulence and craftsmanship of the Belle Époque period, a golden age of Parisian decorative arts. The table features a beautifully shaped scalloped marble top in richly veined Brevccia marble, framed by a fine gilt-bronze (ormolu) border. The serpentine apron, crafted from bookmatched kingwood and tulipwood veneers, is accented with superb gilt-bronze mounts of acanthus leaves, shells, and foliate scrolls—each detail crisply cast and chased to perfection.

The cabriole legs, adorned with gilt-bronze mounts at the knees and sabots, showcase Linke’s signature balance of fluid Rococo movement and refined Neoclassical symmetry. This piece exemplifies the luxury furniture that made Paris the center of fine cabinetmaking at the turn of the 20th century.

About François Linke (1855–1946):
Born in Bohemia, François Linke became one of Paris’s most celebrated ébénistes of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Opening his workshop in 1881, he gained international acclaim at the 1900 Exposition Universelle, where he won the Gold Medal for his groundbreaking fusion of Rococo and Art Nouveau forms. Linke furnished the homes of European aristocracy, including King Fuad I of Egypt and the French elite, and his works remain prized by collectors worldwide for their technical mastery and elegance.
