Although it is stated as being a 'lemon dish' - I have used it as a jewelry dish. My dear grandmother used it for little chocolates that she would serve at the table after supper.
Produced in the early 20th century, this popular pattern called 'Tree in the Meadow', or 'House by the Lake' was originally named 'Scenic'. A hand-painted tree stands beside a house in a meadow. This pattern adorned plates, bowls, butter dishes and other decorative wares.
The 'M' encircled by a wreath, used since 1918, was the mark for the namesake Morimura Brothers and was used until WWII. The Japanese parent company did not officially change its name to Noritake Co., Ltd. until 1981.
