19th Century French Sevres Porcelain Hand Painted Cup & Saucer
The cup has a hand-painted panel depicting a duck/dodo-like bird on a grassy bank, framed by a gold-gilded border. The rest of the cup and the entire saucer are covered in a deep cobalt blue color, which is a common characteristic of Sèvres porcelain and is often referred to as bleu de roi or "king's blue".
The saucer has a central gold-gilded medallion design and additional gold scrollwork around its rim. The combination of a rich colored background, hand-painted scenes, and intricate gold gilding is a hallmark of this highly decorative and sought-after style.
