A rare and wonderful bronze sculpture from Emerson Woelffer (1914-2003), an abstract expressionist artist, known as the grandfather of LA Modernism. Emerson Woelffer was an innovative painter, collagist, and educator throughout his long and prolific career. Born in Chicago and starting his career there, and working his way out west, after much traveling through Europe and Mexico before settling down in Los Angeles. Known for his vibrant painting, in the 1980s Emerson began to work more with sculpture, using clay and bronze as mediums. Throughout these years Woelffer continued to teach, primarily at the Otis College of Art and Design in L.A.
