It gives a glimpse of the innocent years of Santa Monica's growing surf scene before World War II.
These prints are Number 003 of only 500 copies of this limited edition. A lovingly produced limited edition portfolio of four 6.8" x 4.6" black and white prints of images by Don James taken at Bluff Cove, San Onofre, and State Beach in California. Each print was printed using soy based inks on 100% cotton rag 290 GSM acid-free paper.
Don James began surf photography while he was in high school, taking pictures of his friends such as Ed Faron, the Quigg brothers, Bud Rice and the Beach Boys from the Bel Air Bay Club in Santa Monica with his Dad's folding Kodak camera. His photos appeared in commercials and on posters. Don has been described as premier surfing photographer.
