Original pastel drawing on paper by Erik Sulander.. Matte/framing shown is not included and is provided only suggestive as a designer presentation. Signed on reverse. Sulander inherits the Surrealist automatism that Motherwell admired, but he refines it into a more self-aware dialect: his gestures are not pure subconscious discharge but lucid improvisations, aware of their own construction. This gives his paintings a kind of meta-language — a reflection on the act of speaking through paint itself.
