An exceptionally rare and elegant vintage set of two miniature swan-shaped salt cellars (or salts) from the esteemed French porcelain house R. Montigny & Cie Limoges. This exquisite set is presented in its original, fitted faux-crocodile skin gift box with a silk-lined interior.
The swans are sculpted from fine French porcelain: one swan features a rich matte brown glaze, while inside is finished in a striking lustrous gold gilt glaze, offering a beautiful contrast. Both swans feature tiny hand-painted gold accents on their beaks. The base of each swan is marked "R. Montigny & Cie Limoges," a company that often produced highly decorative, mid-century pieces.
