Vintage Expressive Multimedia Portrait of a Woman
Portrait of a Woman by Irvin Nahan (American b. 1927.)
Elegant portrait of a woman looking off into the distance. She has her head turned slightly away from the viewer and her head resting lightly on one hand. Her face is rendered in soft warm colors accentuated by occasional graphite lines which add geometry to her features. There is further textural detail in her hair with visible brushstrokes and small areas of impasto paint.
Signed "I. Nahan 70" in bottom right corner.

Irvin Nahan is a Pennsylvania artist and educator known for his expressionistic oil paintings and drawings. He studied art at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Barnes Foundation at Merion. He was active in the Philadelphia art scene, exhibiting throughout the east coast.
