Lovely Gold framed Vintage Black and White Photography print of "Standard Oil Station, Highway 101, Olive Mill Road, c. 1954" It is signed but I cannot read the signature. Montecito has always been a lovely place to be. Add a piece of Montecito's history to your collection.
The site of present-day Montecito, along with the entire south coast of Santa Barbara County, was inhabited for over 10,000 years by the Chumash Indians.
Around the end of the 19th century, wealthy tourists from the eastern and midwestern United States began to buy land in and around Montecito. It was close enough to Santa Barbara for services, but at the same time presented privacy. Fantastic weather and several hot springs offered a desirable environment. This has not changed much today, as still a lot of famous people are looking for the beauty and privacy that Montecito offers.
