Celadon production in Northern Thailand flourished anew in the late 20th century, when Chiang Mai artisans revived the centuries-old techniques of high-temperature reduction firing with wood ash glazes. The resulting jade-green tone and fine craquelure were prized for their resemblance to ancient Sawankhalok wares. Figures of Theppanom symbolize humility, grace, and spiritual protection.
