Hans Erni (Swiss, 1909-2015) "Zwei Pferde" lithograph depicting two horses in textured inky black circling around a light green background. Signed in pencil lower right, numbered 35/220 lower right. Displayed behind glass with a gilt and tan canvas frame.
Hans Erni was a Swiss painter, muralist, and graphic designer known for his large commissioned works. His major projects featured a 1936 mural Vacation Land of the People created for the National Exhibition of Zürich. Erni provided paintings for Swiss bank notes that were never issued, as it was thought that he might had included Communist propaganda. Later in life, he provided artworks that were engraved onto Olympic medals, notably including the 1992 Olympic Summer Games Basketball Gold Medal awarded to the United States’ men’s basketball team known as the “Dream Team.” studied art at the School of Applied Arts in Berlin where he developed an admiration for the work of Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso. He later curated Picasso's first Swiss show at the Lucerne Museum of Fine Arts.
Condition: Displays well with discoloration to canvas frame and gilt finish wear.
