Chairs are from the Great American Home series made for our Bicentennial in 1976. Chairs show the homes of 4 Presidents. George Washington's Mount Vernon, John Adams, they call it old house it is really called Peacefield, the old Adams house is much smaller. I've been to both, Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and Andrew Jackson's Hermitage. Chairs were made between 1974 and 1976. It appears based on the markings on the bottom of the chairs that they were made in very small quantities. You can see where a couple of the chairs were retailed through. The cane seats are very recent. Chairs retain their original Bayberry Green painted finish with gilt highlights. The crest rails show a silhouette of each President and the central rail has a painting of their house. If you havent been to these 4 houses you should make an effort to see them. Each is different and give a good insight to our early Presidents. I've been to all 4. There is wear to the crest rail on 2 chairs Washington and Jackson. Jackson has the most wear. Structurally the chairs appear to be in fine condition. Chairs are 35 1/2" tall and 18 1/4" wide and the crest rail the seats are a little narrower. Chairs are 16 1/2" deep and the seat height is 18". A nice set of chairs celebrating our Nations Bicentennial and with another big birthday coming up these would be a nice addition. See less
