WONDERFUL EARLY COILED RYE GRASS / ASH SPLINT BASKET LATE 19TH / EARLY 20TH CENTURY
DIMENSIONS About 4" deep x 12 1/2" diameter
DESCRIPTION Coiled ash splint and rye grass straw basket. Likely from one of the Amish communities of Pennsylvania. Entirely hand made. Thick grass coils with ash splint wrappings.
CONDITION Overall excellent. Coils intact. Sturdy construction. Some minor rim coils worn or missing. Rich, dark age patina (all visible in the images). A FINE EARLY PRIMITIVE AMERICAN BASKET IN GREAT CONDITION!
