A rare early Pyrex laboratory vessel dating from before 1947, identifiable by its etched maker’s mark reading “TM REG – PYREX – U.S. PAT. – MADE IN U.S.A.” This specific circular logo was used by Corning Glass Works prior to the 1947 trademark redesign, making it a collectible example of early industrial Pyrex.
Made of heavy borosilicate glass, this cylindrical vat was originally designed for laboratory or industrial applications. The edge was hand-ground and sanded (called fire-polished ground edge or hand-lapped rim). Today it makes a stunning sculptural accent. Its optical clarity and minimal form lend it beautifully to use as a statement vase, terrarium, or display vessel in modern interiors.
