THE JOAN WALSH ANGLUND STORY• BOOK
1978 First Edition Book Club Edition
Random House New York
Hardcover in Original Reinforced Dust Jacket
A treasury of original stories, verses, and exquisite full-color illustrations by one of America's most beloved author-artists, Joan Walsh Anglund. With simple text and captivating pictures, Mrs.
Anglund recreates the enchantment of a happy child's world, including such familiar themes as a worn-out teddy bear, a romp in the deep, white snow, a telephone call to Grandma, and a little lost kitten.
This is a storybook for young and old to cherish and share together-ideal for a cozy family story hour or for that quiet moment of affection before bedtime.
While children listen to the poetic, rhythmic text, they can study the delicately colored pictures, full of humor, action, and rich detail.
Joan Walsh Anglund has created another irresistible gem of a book that should be a favorite for years to come.
JOAN WALSH ANGLUND was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The child of artists, she found that drawing came as naturally to her as writing. And as a girl she spent long hours in the attic, reading and rereading her favorite books and drawing illustrations for them.
Later, Mrs. Anglund studied drawing and painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art. The first book she both wrote and illustrated is A Friend Is Someone Who Likes You. Selected by the New York Times as one of the ten best illustrated children's books of 1958, it became an immediate best-seller, making the author-artist a world-wide favorite. Since then she has created more than 25 titles, among them Love Is a Special Way of Feeling, In a Pumpkin Shell, Brave Cowboy, and Morning Is a Little Child.
Mrs. Anglund lives with her family in Connecticut, and spends her summers on Nantucket Island. Her happy experiences with her granddaughter at Nantucket gave her the inspiration for this storybook.
