Antique French Louis XV–style giltwood bergère armchair, dating to the late 19th century, newly priced to encourage a quick sale.
This finely carved armchair features a richly detailed giltwood frame with fluted legs, rosette blocks, and beaded edging. The original finish has mellowed to a warm tone with subtle gold undertones and traces of red bole visible beneath the gilding—an authentic hallmark of age.
The chair’s deep upholstered sides and loose seat cushion provide both comfort and structure. It is upholstered in a pale green-gray gingham fabric delicately embroidered with small multicolor flowers, offering a refined yet relaxed, country-house feel.
An additional removable cushion beneath the seat adds comfort and fullness.
Provenance: From the seller’s great-grandmother’s family in France, retained within the same family for generations.
