Original painting of Cunard Line’s Aquitania by Frederick Hoertz (American, 1889-1978) that was turned into Lithographs for the Cunard Line. The Aquitania was part of Cunard's transatlantic service with its primary route was between Liverpool or Southampton (UK) and New York. Her maiden voyage in May 1914 was from Liverpool to New York, and she continued serving this route for many years both before and after World War I. She was one of the “Big Three” (Aquitania, Mauretania, and Lusitania) that Cunard used for its premier service across the Atlantic, and she often docked at Cunard's Pier 54 in New York.

Frederick J. Hoertz (American 1889–1978) was an American artist renowned for his dynamic marine paintings, lithographs, and innovative World War I camouflage designs. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he studied at the Brooklyn Institute, Art Students League, and Albright Institute. Hoertz’s detailed depictions of sailing ships and steam vessels are complemented by his notable contributions to wartime propaganda and camouflage, including his award-winning poster Your Work Means Victory—Build Another One and his innovative dazzle camouflage for the USS Von Steuben. His works continue to be featured in major auctions and exhibitions.
