A striking pair of large vintage Mexican hojalata (tin) angels, each hand-painted and beautifully detailed. These wall-hanging angels feature vibrant painted finishes in red, cobalt, teal, and gold, with expressive faces and trumpet forms that evoke joyful movement.
Crafted by Mexican artisans, Mid Century, each angel is formed from hand-cut and embossed tin, then painted in metallic tones typical of mid-century Mexican folk art. The aged patina and scattered paint wear add character and authenticity without diminishing their charm.
Impressive in scale and luminous in color, they display wonderfully as a matched pair above a console, entryway, or holiday display. These are part of a larger collection of tin folk art obtained by a Santa Barbara, Ca. estate.

Both angels retain their original hand-painted lacquered finish in red, blue, green, and gold, with gentle wear and oxidation consistent with age and handmade character. The tin surfaces show light scattered patina, small areas of paint loss, and minor surface irregularities, all typical of mid-century Mexican hojalata work. Structurally sound with no dents, cracks, or repairs. Ready to hang. Please see all photos. As expected with age there is some color loss, scrapes and sporadic rust which adds to their charm. less
