The Medaillon vase by Hans Theo Baumann for Thomas is an outstanding example of the experimental design culture of the 1970s. The German designer, known for his clear formal language and precise material aesthetics, created an object with this porcelain vase that straddles function and art. The cylindrical, white body bears a circular pattern in yellow, gold, bronze, and gray – a play of light and reflection reminiscent of medallions. Baumann's design is in the spirit of Space Age design: modern and graphic.
