Originally crafted as functional English scale weights, this complete set of seven Victorian cast-iron ring weights now serves beautifully as sculptural paperweights or desk décor. Each features raised lb markings and classic squared forms topped by forged iron rings.
The backs bear the G.P.O. arrow mark, while the 7 lb and 1 lb weights are stamped “DE.G & Co” beneath. The 4 lb example carries the foundry mark “Avery BIRM M”, attributed to W. & T. Avery Ltd., Birmingham — one of Britain’s most respected 19th-century scale makers.
Rich dark patina with only faint traces of oxidation; all pieces remain solid and display beautifully as industrial-inspired sculpture or historical curiosities.
Includes: 8 lb, 7 lb, 4 lb, 2 lb, 1 lb, ½ lb, and ¼ lb weights.
