It is one of eight that … Read more Offered is a vintage industrial style light made by the Benjamin Electric Manufacturing Company. It is one of eight that came out of a barn in south central Pennsylvania that we are currently offering on Chairish. Authentic Benjamin industrial fixtures were built to withstand harsh factory conditions. They were made with robust materials like heavy-duty steel and rugged enamel finishes. One of Benjamin's signature features is the high-gloss porcelain enamel shade, often in classic colors such as dark green, gray, black, or white. This combined the strength of steel with the hardness of a glass enamel coating, creating a corrosion-resistant and long-lasting finish.
This light, like the others being offered is in the color scheme of a dark green exterior and white interior. It features a classic, simple bell shape often seen on original "barn lights".
As with all preowned lighting these lights show evidence of wear commensurate with use and age. There are small areas of chipped enamel paint, rust and instances of oversprayed white paint. The original light sockets are still in place. They have been removed, cleaned and replaced. For reasons of safety and liability the original wiring has been removed as it contained asbestos. They are ready to be rewired by your chosen electrician. The original hanging fixtures have been stripped of old paint and rust, wire brushed, sanded, polished and given a coat of clear lacquer to prevent new rust. They are ready to be used as is or repainted in a color of your choice to match your interior. The drop tubes in the hanging fixtures have been replaced with new 1/2” diameter galvanized pipe. If you need a longer or shorter drop they may be removed and replaced with a longer or shorter piece of threaded galvanized pipe easily obtainable at your home supply store.
