When I … Read more This is an absolutely gorgeous arched style late 1800s to very early 1900's antique cast iron fireplace surround. When I have had these in the past I sometimes have them refinished (sanded and/or repainted) but this one shows off it's antique patina so well, and has such an unusual color for a fireplace surround that I just cou ldn't help but see if it was perfect for someone in its current patina-rich as-found state.

This piece of architectural salvage is in great physical condition -- little to no rust, strong and sturdy/heavy. It does have the flower patterns cast into the iron at the upper right and upper left corners, which are representative of Victorian pieces. But the significant double-cast archway has both a gothic as well as an art deco look to it as well.

I tried to capture ALL the measurements you might need to determine if it meets your installation needs -- please see the photos. If I missed something please let me know. I have seen antique dealers and other sellers charge double the price for the "extra patina" this piece has, and have also seen sellers discount the piece a tad because of the patina. I am going to try to list it at the latter and see if it makes a quick sale. If not, I will simply refinish it and add a couple hundred to the price. If you are one of those who likes items to show their patina/age, you'll consider this one as being at a HUGE discount. :)
