Purchased in Germany in the 1980s and already considered antique at the time, it reflects the grand, old-world sensibilities of 19th-century European design. The substantial solid wood column showcases exaggerated barley twist carving, a hallmark of Continental furniture popularized during the Baroque period and revived in the late 1800s. The base is equally striking, with a shaped plinth and turned finial feet that echo the vertical movement of the column. At the top, four ornately cast metal arms with scrolling details and onyx-like stone bobeches bring a refined candelabra-inspired look—functioning as elegant hooks for coats, hats, or bags.
