Antique Bijar Persian Floral Medallion Hand Knotted Pile Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional piece is a superb example of the bijar weaving tradition, renowned for its dense pile and remarkable durability, often referred to as the "Iron Rugs of Persia."

The field is dominated by a rich, luminous camel-brown hue, placing it among desirable brown earth-tone color rugs. This expansive, subtly abrash field provides a sophisticated backdrop for the central, highly stylized floral medallion, rendered in striking coral red, deep indigo, and subtle teal accents.

The elongated format suggests it was likely intended for a grand corridor or large foyer, classifying it among desirable hallway runner rugs. The central medallion is anchored by delicate pendants extending along the vertical axis, while the main border frames the composition with repeating boteh and geometric floral motifs, maintaining the rug's powerful visual symmetry.

As a genuine artifact from the 1880s, this piece holds significant historical and decorative value, representing a prime example of antique rugs from the Qajar era. The quality of the wool and the depth of the natural dyes confirm its provenance from the finest weaving centers of Iran / Persia, offering a rare opportunity for the discerning collector. See less
