Ashanti stools are considered … Read more Vintage; African Tribal people of Ashant, from Ghana, is this traditional, wood-carved Emperors bench or stool. Ashanti stools are considered a sacred, and are a symbol of power, authority, and achievement. The stool, is believed to be the, :Soul of the Nation, " and once a king is enthroned, the stool becomes as sacred as the king himself. They are typically carved from a single block of wood, and the design of the stool, with a crescent-shaped seat, and flat base. The intricate carvings on the support structure can have symbolic meanings, such as the head carved, on both sides, and imbedded between the mainframe of the stool. Naive,application of carving, but none the less, characteristic of some fashion and period within the African Ghana tribe. In great condition, for era and se, normal wear and scratches and patina wear. See less
