Very finely knotted rugs and carpets in complex Persian medallion, arabesque and palmette styles on light grounds were the favourite approach. This circa 1950 carpet employs beige, ivory, pale green, olive and grass green in a semi-pastel palette. The silk pile is cut quite short to better display the elaborate pattern. See less
