Antique Large Cotton Blue Flat Weave Rug, Circa Date: 1935. This exceptional textile represents a superb example of early 20th-century weaving, utilizing a durable cotton foundation and a tightly executed flat weave structure. Its age, condition, and sophisticated design qualify it among our finest antique rugs.

The palette is defined by a striking use of deep indigo and cerulean tones, forming the robust border and the intricate lattice that frames the central motifs. This masterful deployment of the primary hue ensures its prominence among fine blue color rugs, while the secondary tones of muted sage, soft peach, and pale gray provide necessary warmth and dimension to the overall composition.

The field design is characterized by a disciplined, all-over geometric repeat. A precise, interlocking diamond grid, rendered in the primary blue, contains highly stylized, angular devices that suggest movement and traditional symbolism. The wide, complex border features large, alternating medallions and ogee shapes, lending a structured modernity typical of designs emerging in the 1930s.

Woven to an impressive scale, this textile is categorized as a large oversized big rug, making it ideal for defining expansive living areas or grand dining rooms. The flat weave construction offers exceptional durability and a low profile, allowing this historic piece to integrate seamlessly into contemporary interiors requiring both texture and sophisticated color.
