The bow-front encoignure features two paneled doors decorated with a vivid biblical court scene populated by richly dressed figures beneath dramatic red drapery, rendered in shades of blue, red, cream, and ochre.

Traditionally associated with the story of Salome and Saint John the Baptist, the narrative decoration gives the cabinet exceptional character while preserving the look of an early devotional or domestic painted furnishing. The doors retain their aged iron hinges and hardware and open to reveal interior shelving for useful storage.

Designed to fit neatly into a corner, the cabinet may also be wall mounted, making its compact scale especially versatile. The original painted surface displays expected rubbing, losses, craquelure, and wear, all contributing to the wonderfully timeworn appearance of this nearly 250-year-old piece.

Very good antique condition commensurate with age and use.
