This refined bookcase was designed by Tito Agnoli for Caleido, a company belonging to the prestigious Frau Group, in the 1970s.
It is a rare piece of furniture that is highly representative of the designer's research, capable of blending formal rigor, material elegance, and a clear propensity for experimentation.
The solid wood structure, with its clean lines and balanced proportions, has two distinct sections: the upper part, closed by sliding smoked glass doors, and the lower part, featuring two doors covered with a patchwork of fine black peccary leather. This leather, used only in high-end creations, is hand-stitched with great precision, creating an irregular geometric pattern that gives the piece a unique and sophisticated character.
The upper section in smoked glass, with internal shelves, is ideal for displaying books, design collections, or decorative objects, but at the same time lends itself perfectly to storing bottles and glasses, transforming the piece into an elegant home bar.
The contrast with the lower section covered in leather creates a play of materials and functions that combines lightness and transparency with tactile and material depth.
The dialogue between functionality and beauty is the poetic heart of the project: Agnoli demonstrates once again how design can go beyond simple practical use to become an aesthetic and sensory experience. It is no coincidence that many of his pieces are now considered true works of art worthy of collection.
Tito Agnoli (1931-2012), a student of Gio Ponti and Franco Albini, was one of the leading figures in 20th-century Italian design. His work is characterized by continuous research into the use of materials and a cultured and refined approach.
He collaborated with companies such as Arflex, Poltrona Frau, Molteni, Oluce, and Matteo Grassi, leaving an indelible mark on the history of design. The pecary-covered furniture he designed for Caleido belongs to an extremely limited production and is now considered an absolute rarity on the international market.
This piece of furniture is not just a bookcase or storage unit, but a versatile piece that can become a sophisticated bar cabinet, perfect for elegant residential environments or reception areas. A rare collector's item, capable of transforming any room with its sculptural presence, designed by one of the great masters of Italian design.

Tito Agnoli (1931-2012) was an Italian designer and architect known for his functional and minimalist approach to design. Born in Lima, Peru, to an Italian family, he moved to Italy to study painting before graduating in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in the early 1950s. During his training, he collaborated with design masters such as Gio Ponti and Carlo De Carli, experiences that profoundly influenced his style.
Agnoli distinguished himself for his ability to combine elegance and practicality, designing furniture with simple, clean lines, with a particular focus on functionality and industrial production. He worked for some of the most prestigious companies in the sector, including Molteni, Poltrona Frau, Arflex, and Oluce, creating furniture and lamps that are still appreciated today for their simplicity and refinement.
