Pair of Jindřich Halabala Bentwood Lounge Chairs in Bouclé, Czech Republic, Mid-20th Century A refined pair of bentwood lounge chairs designed by Jindřich Halabala, one of the leading figures of Czech modernist furniture design. Created in the 1930s, these pieces represent the elegance and craftsmanship of Central European functionalism and remain icons of 20th-century design. Each chair features Halabala’s signature sculptural bentwood arms, flowing in a continuous organic curve that joins the front and rear legs with effortless grace. The frames are crafted from solid beech, finished in a deep walnut tone with a beautifully aged patina. The newly upholstered seats and backs, covered in premium off-white bouclé fabric, offer a tactile contrast to the smooth wood — combining softness and strength in perfect harmony. with their generous proportions and ergonomic comfort, these chairs are ideal for both residential and boutique interiors. Professionally re-upholstered with high-density foam and quality fabric, they maintain the integrity of the original wooden frames while providing modern durability. The wood surfaces show light, even wear consistent with age, enhancing their authentic vintage character. A timeless example of Halabala’s forward-thinking aesthetic, these lounge chairs encapsulate the sculptural form and human-centered design that defined Czech Art Deco and early modernism.
