Superb Anglo-Indian camphor chest, made in the late 19th century from solid camphor wood and adorned with hand-carved brass fittings.
This type of chest, imported from India to Europe by British officers and merchants, was used to transport textiles or camphor.
Camphor wood, prized for its subtle fragrance and natural insect-repellent qualities, gives this piece a unique charm and exceptional durability.
