Created in England during the 19th century, this secretary bookcase draws our immediate attention with its black lacquered ground highlighting the linear silhouette beautifully. This two-part piece showcases an upper, more narrow cabinet, presenting a cornice overhanging two glass doors. These doors open to reveal inner shelves offering convenient storage for books. The lower section, larger in depth, is made of a drop-front desk at the top opening to open compartments with scalloped accents, surrounded by petite drawers, the writing area being fitted with a green leather inset.
