Each jar features the classic domed lid with a jewel finial, broad shoulders, and full rounded body. The surface is covered in a bright lemon-yellow enamel ground, decorated in a window-panel layout with the central theme of Dragon and Phoenix in Auspicious Union. The dragon symbolizes the Emperor, while the phoenix represents the Empress — together expressing harmony, prosperity, and imperial authority.

The design is enriched with traditional motifs such as rolling waves and flaming pearls, forming one of the most iconic auspicious patterns in Chinese decorative art. The style reflects the ornate aesthetic favored by the imperial workshops during the late Guangxu period. The base bears an underglaze red six-character seal mark “Da Qing Xianfeng Nian Zhi,” a typical homage mark of the time.
