Antique French hand painted biscuit barrel or cookie jar, in French it is a 'bonbonnière'. Some of these jars can be delicately painted on fine glass but this one feels more solid, the glass is thicker and the painting is bold.
It has a vibrant orange floral decoration, clearly hand painted. NOTE the glass is all painted on the inside, it is not coloured glass.
There are marks on the metal from age. The rim has a scuff mark possibly from years of hands removing the lid. The lid a little indent in it and the handle has wear, shown in the photos.
