Important Portrait of the Princess of Ruspoli, began 18th Century, Italian School Began 18th-century oil on canvas depicting the Princess of Ruspoli, a member of one of the most influential Italian noble families of the time. The female figure appears bust-length, dressed in a crimson dress with white lace, in the Baroque court style. The face conveys sobriety and serenity, highlighting the contrast between the dark palette of the background and the luminosity of the clothing. It features uniform crackling and some antique retouching, characteristic of its age, which does not detract from the overall strength. The frame, made of carved and water-gilded wood with vegetal ornamentation and a central crown, is a piece of high quality in itself, which significantly increases the overall value of the work. Canvas: 62 cm x 71.5 cm with Frame: 132 cm x 88 cm Good condition This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
