The portrait shows the duchess's bust, wrapped in a blue-green silk stole and a translucent veil framing her face, in a composition of great elegance and refinement. The serenity of her features, the delicate modeling of her flesh tones, and the subtle sensuality of her attire reflect the aesthetic ideal of french rococo and the tradition of great court portraitists, such as jean-marc nattier and hyacinthe rigaud, who were associated with the royal circle of versailles. The dark background highlights the luminosity of her face and the folds of the fabric, lending the work decorative strength and nobility.
