Offered is a rare set of 12 sterling silver nut dishes made by the prominent arts & crafts era Randahl Shop of Chicago. This set was likely sold by the Marshall Field department store and retain the original flannel bags from the store.
They are 3 1/8" diameter and the set of 12 weighs approximately 338 grams in total.
Having spent their their lives inside the protective flannel bags, this set is in unusually fine condition. No monos and little wear. Box 39.
Chicago was the center of the arts and crafts silver movement. While the Kalo Shop produced the largest amount of Arts & Crafts silver, two other makers had fairly sizable outputs -- Lebolt and Randahl. Julius O. Randahl was a Swedish silversmith who worked at the Kalo Shop from 1907 to 1910, important Park Ridge years when Kalo was growing quickly and creating some of its best work. Randahl founded the Randahl Shop, probably inspired by the Kalo model, with one important difference -- Randahl sold his holloware through department stores rather than just from his storefront. Randahl focused on holloware and produced little jewelry.
