Original antique copper engraving of a bird's-eye plan of Jerusalem, created by Daniel Stoopendaal. The depiction of the holy city is surrounded by engravings of religious icons, including representations of Solomon and a High Priest. At the top, there is an elaborate elevation of the Temple of Solomon, while the bottom features a plan of the Temple of Ezekiel. The town plan itself includes numerous landmarks, with twin legends held aloft by cherubs that highlight an additional 60 sites. The work is further surrounded by 12 vignettes from the Old Testament, including scenes of Solomon's Temple and the Ark of the Covenant. Dimensions: 17 x 19 1/4"
Daniel Stoopendaal (1672–1726) was a Dutch engraver and cartographer based in Amsterdam, renowned for his biblical maps and engravings.
