The painting depicts an abstract landscape in shades of blue and green. Distinct shapes show the depth of the composition with rolling hills in the background and a body of water in the foreground. The work is signed to the lower left corner.

Born in Chicago, Pattison studied at Yale where he graduated with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After serving in the navy during World War II, he went on to teach at the North Shore Art League and the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as Maine's Skowhegan School of Art after he moved to Maine in 1993. Pattison's works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Whitney Museum of Art in New York City, the San Francisco Museum of Art, as well as others. See less
