This impressive piece epitomizes the opulence and craftsmanship of 19th-century Continental decorative arts.


At the top corners, finely modeled and polychrome-painted porcelain busts depict a noble lady and gentleman in Renaissance attire, each projecting in high relief from ornate white and gilt scrollwork surrounds. Flanking the mirror are two tall hand-painted porcelain panels depicting romanticized hunting scenes with richly dressed figures on horseback set within lush, mountainous landscapes.


Smaller porcelain plaques featuring musical trophies and floral arrangements provide decorative accents at the upper and lower sections, lending a refined classical air. At the base, a malachite-veneered panel with applied gilt bronze foliate mounts adds a striking contrast to the porcelain elements.


The frame itself is composed of gilt and ebonized wood, retaining a beautiful patina consistent with age. The mirror plate appears to be original, with age-appropriate wear and light surface oxidation that enhances the antique character of the piece.
