A superb Japanese cloisonné enamel vase attributed to the Ando workshop, dating from the 1920s to 1930s. The vase features a striking deep black ground, beautifully contrasted by vividly enameled butterflies in shades of turquoise, orange, green, and blue. Each butterfly is rendered with exceptional precision, showcasing the refined enamel work and attention to detail characteristic of Ando’s production during the Taishō to early Shōwa period.
The elegant baluster form rises to a flared rim, with silver mounts at the top and base. The lustrous black enamel ground provides a dramatic stage for the colorful butterflies, creating a sense of motion and lightness against the rich, glossy surface.
A fine example of early 20th-century Japanese cloisonné artistry, suitable for both collectors and interior display. Excellent overall condition with light age wear.
