A 1991 set of ten ceramic wall sculptures by the American artist Ana England (born 1953). From England's "Essential Equation” series, this work features an array of symbols and designs ranging from geometric shapes to ankh symbols. Each piece has a mottled green and copper glaze. Unsigned, the pieces have small holes in the back for hanging.
England studied ceramics at San Jose State University where she graduated with her graduate degree. She went on to teach at Northern Kentucky University, where she is now professor emeritus. England has exhibited widely throughout the United States, including a solo show at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Her work often focuses on our relationship with the natural world.
Measurements:
5.5” x 5.5” x 1” (X); 3.25” x 5.75” x 1” (ankh). Each of the pieces is of similar size to the X and ankh pieces.
