The standard is executed in lacquered papier-mâché (over a turned core), hand-painted with dense millefleurs—poppy, chinar and berry sprays—in saturated crimson, saffron and lapis, all heightened with finely brushed gilt arabesques. Ebonized, ribbed collars articulate the waisted neck and foot, giving the silhouette a classical rhythm while framing the exuberant floral fields. The circular plinth repeats the polychrome garden motif, its edge banded in black for a crisp finish. Fitted with a single socket and capped with a square-bell fabric shade in deep chocolate, which complements the warm palette of the base.

This lamp encapsulates mid-20th-century Kashmiri craftsmanship: layered lacquer, jewel-tone pigments and gold detailing that catch the light and read as both decorative object and functional sculpture.
