Set of 2 Model 115 Lounge Chairs by Theo Ruth for Artifort, Netherlands, 1950s This set of two Model 115 lounge chairs was designed in the 1950s by Theo Ruth for Artifort, one of the most influential Dutch furniture manufacturers of the 20th century. As the company’s first permanent designer, Ruth was instrumental in defining Artifort’s mid-century identity, combining sculptural forms with refined proportions and lasting comfort. Model 115 is characterized by its softly rounded backrest and arm profile that flows into the seat, creating an organic and inviting silhouette. The chairs are supported by slender black legs, connected by a stabilizing frame at the rear, giving the design both elegance and structural balance. This construction ensures durability while maintaining a light and modern aesthetic. The set consists of one chair in original light blue upholstery and one in soft pink upholstery, together creating a striking and harmonious duo. The fabric shows visible traces of use consistent with age, and for everyday use reupholstery is recommended. Collectors, however, often value the preservation of original textiles as they underline the authenticity and historic integrity of the pieces. The wooden frames and legs remain in very good original condition, with only minor signs of wear, further highlighting the quality and longevity of Artifort craftsmanship. These lounge chairs are versatile in use and scale. Their compact proportions make them suitable for both residential and commercial interiors, from private living rooms to boutique spaces and galleries. Whether styled individually or placed together as a pair, they function as eye-catching design statements with undeniable mid-century character. Dimensions (per chair): Depth: 83 cm (32.7 in.) Width: 77 cm (30.3 in.) Height: 78 cm (30.7 in.) Seat height: 44 cm (17.3 in.) This set of two Theo Ruth Model 115 chairs is a refined example of Dutch mid-century modern design, balancing sculptural elegance with authentic vintage character. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
