A band of round bosses encircles the rim and foot of the urn. Four scenes of river carp are quartered around the body of the urn, alternating with lotus blossoms and various seaweeds all finely carved in low relief. A blue, Ming dynasty, Nei Fu location mark is glazed just below the rim. The large, finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu stand is included. Circa Republic of China era or earlier.


Nei Fu: A Nei Fu mark (內府), translating to "Inner Court" or "Inner Palace," is a two-character mark found on porcelain made in China for the Vietnamese market during the 19th century. These marks indicate that the porcelain was created for use by the Vietnamese imperial court or "Inner Court".
